Japan was surprising very easy to manouver around, despite most of the people speaking limited English. The subways are all well labelled in English and we're lucky that most of the Janpanese Kanji resembles their Mandarin counterparts in meaning. As Chinling put it, it felt like a super modern and clean Taiwan on first encounter and we felt right at home. Could also be due to the many Japanese dramas we watched....=P
We went during Christmas, and even though there was some Christmas lights, Japanese don't seem to be very involved in it.
